Sadly, yet not unexpectedly in the Coach Honda era the Angkor Warriors did not qualify for Qatar 2022. So, where can us thirsty fans watch the World Cup in Cambodia?

Sadly the World Cup is not only occurring during the exiting end to the Cambodian Premier League season, but also right when things like wards ceremonies are being held, proving quit the conflict of interest for Cambodian football fans.
Luckily, or perhaps to put it more bluntly sadly this has been allowed to happen as literally no Cambodian based players are taking part in Qatar 2022.
We have also not been treated well by the time difference, with games often occurring at 10 pm and 2 am, creating quite the work dilemmas! But as always where there is a will there is a way and work, or no work I see few Englishmen missing the final should we make it.
So, with this in mind Cambodia Sports Review went looking for the best places to watch the World Cup in Cambodia.
OK, so it might not be all the fashionable, nor the arrogant drunk fans from the other teams shouting loudly, but a great option particularly if you have work. On Cambodian TV the games are being shown on TVK and on national broadcasters, meaning if you have a TV in Cambodia you can watch the matches from home.
There is also WeWatch TV, which you can read about here
The most famous sports bar in Phnom Penh and without doubt the one with the best screens. Sadly this also makes it by far the most expensive $3+ a beer) and also the loudest and busiest.
Service during big games here is ropey at best and for us at least bot our cup of tea!
Ruby’s is a decocted sports bar with some good screens and some even better all you can drink and eat deals. Being located literally next to Brooklyn Pizza also means you can get a food while the games are on, with them serving food until late night.
Stating the obvious a bit, but there are few bars that have not jumped on the bandwagon when it comes to the world cup, with establishments that would not usually show football suddenly starting to show matches.
These places might not have the atmosphere of a sports bar, but at least they will remember your drink order. A top tip here would be Sundance Inn and Saloon!
Street 172 might not exactly be known for class and it certainly has its detractors, but they also have the very underrated Sports Bar that is the Big Easy. Open late and overing all of the matches, they might lack the big screens of Score bar, but with multiple TV’s can show two concurrent games, particularly useful at the end of the group stages.
Couple this with the cheap beers ($1) and great service and this makes The Big Easy the best place to watch the World Cup in 2022!
Oh and last, but by no means least we did say the best place to watch the World Cup in Cambodia, not just Phnom Penh, so that also leaves Siem Reap! Get yourself down to Star Bar, where they have the biggest screen and the best happy hour in town.
