Speaking about the upcoming 32nd SEA Games on Monday, Prime-Minister of the Kingdom Hun Sen shared his hope that the country would “do its best” to ensure that the tournament was a success.
In a speech during a graduation ceremony of nearly 2,000 students at the Human Resource University in Phnom Penh he told attendees “We will spare no effort to ensure security and safety for the athletes from other countries and their fans as well as for all tournaments,”.
He further added that160 athletes had been training in China since September in order to prepare themselves for the games, among others had gone traveled to the Cambodian ally in preparation for the games. This comes on the back of Cambodia giving and indeed offering record sums for successful athletes within the Kingdom, further proof if any was needed about the importance the government is placing on success during the games.

Cambodia will host the 32nd SEA Games from May 5 to 17 for the first time in its 64 year history. The Chinese built Morodok Techo National Stadium in north of the capital will host both th opening ceremony, as well as serving as the showpiece venue for the games.
The event will see athletes competing in 37 sports with more than 600 disciplines and will mark the first major Olympic event to be held within the Kingdom, as well as the first regional sporting event since the GANEFO games of 1966.

The 32nd Asian Games, which are being marked as 2023 Cambodia is the premier sporting tournament of South-East Asia and is generally held every two years.
