“We are delighted that Wing Bank will sponsor HFCA’s football program at Sras Srong village in Siem Reap and this will bring great benefit to the village youth,” he added.
HFCA has been running weekly football training in Siem Reap city since 2017 and in February 2020 HFCA launched their Siem Reap Village football programs in Oroong Village, Chub Smack Village and Sras Srong Village. HFCA is the first organisation to run a formal sports program in these three villages and on average 50 girls across the three programs are attending regularly.
Han Peng Kwang, CEO of Wing Bank said: “This partnership, which is for one year, is a great example of Wing Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting communities in rural Cambodia, both via our excellent financial and non-financial products and services and providing vital support to the local community,”
“Playing football is not only good for their health, but also it can help youth to work together as a team. That will bring about solidarity in the community,” he added.
Corporate responsibility has been key to Wing as they have established themselves as one fo the most important banking institutions within the country, with other areas of sponsorship including supporting Angkor Hospital for Children and the Kantha Bopha Hospital Foundation to name but two.
Wing Bank are not the first big Cambodian corporation to get involved in either grassroots, or professional football within the Kingdom, with Prince Group heavily involved in not only Visakha FC, but also many charitable projects.
Panasonic have also been heavily involved in both promotion of the Cambodian Premier League, but also charitable endeavours related to sport.
This influx of money is something many clubs, grassroots organizations and BGO’s are keen to be a part of.
