Cambodia are left needing a miracle in the AFC Under 20’s Asian Cup Qualifiers after a win and a draw leaves them all but mathematically out of the competition.
You can read about the competition here
The qualifiers were to feature four teams, namely Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Pakistan before the withdrawal of the later, with the competition being hosted in Cambodia for the first time.
The group kicked off with Cambodia taking on Myanmar, with the home team losing 2-0. It was though the second match Cambodia vs Malaysia that was to prove the most exciting.
With both teams seemingly heading for a draw Kimhong of Cambodia managed to break the deadlock in the dying seconds of the game, netting in the 94 minute to give the hosts victory and mathematically at least leaving them still in contention.

The Khmer ladies sit level on points with Myanmar on 3, but the later have a goal difference of +2. This means that Cambodia need Malaysia to beat Myanmar by 3 clear goals, in which case they will be joint-top with Malaysia, but will qualify by having the better record against them.
Malaysia on the other hand need to win by 4 clear goals in order to finish top, not impossible, nor all that likely.
The draw for the second round of the qualifiers will be held after the completion of first round , at the AFC House in Malaysia. For the second round, the eight teams will be drawn into two groups of four teams, which will be seeded dependent on performance in the Under 19 Championship.
