Angkor Tiger launch “Pocari Sweat Japan Youth Dream Challenge”
Angkor Tiger FC, together with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Otsuka Nutraceutical (Thailand)Co. Ltd., Otsuka Nutraceutical (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Japan division 2 side Tokushima Vortis will jointly host the “Pocari Sweat Japan Youth Dream Challenge” in 2022.
What is the Pocari Sweat Japan Youth Dream Challenge?
The first round of tryouts will be held in Battambang on Sunday June 26, Siem Reap on Sunday July 3, and Phnom Penh on Sunday July 10 for youths aged 14 to 15 years old (born in 2007 and 2008), with the final selection being held in Siem Reap at the end of July.
The two best Cambodian players will be awarded the right to participate in a two-week training camp with the Tokushima Vortis U15 Junior Youth Team in Japan. It is currently planned for the camp to run in October/November of 2022 and will offer winners a unique chance to play and train in one of the most competitive leagues in Asia.

For the program Siem Reap based Angkor Tigers will be responsible for local knowledge, overall promotion of the event and most importantly using their expertise to decide who will qualify for the final camp.

Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Otsuka Nutraceutical (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the Cambodian distributor of POCARI SWEAT, will be responsible for supporting the players through nutrition and dehydration, as well as liaising with the Japanese partners to ensure the success of the project.
Pocari Sweat have long been supporters of Cambodian football and are one of the main sponsors for Angkor Tiger FC, the only Siem Reap based club in the Cambodian Premier League.

When asked about their reasoning for the program a representative form Angkor Tiger FC told Khmer Nights “ We want to create equal opportunities for youths across Cambodia. Football is the most popular sports in the country and by providing this opportunity we offer these youths the chance to dream of stardom”.
And there would even be chances for those not selected in the final two, with other talents potentially having the chance to join the Angkor Tiger academy. .
