Crown Go Three Points Clear At The Top

This week’s Sunday session saw no fewer than four games featuring 4 of the current top 5 clubs going head to head. Crown smashed Nagaworld 6-2 in Kampong Speu whilst Vishaka inflicted the first defeat on Angkor Tiger of the 2024-25 season.

It’s not over Nagaworld………

Nagaworld fans, understandably, will be feeling that their title chances are all but finished but I can assure you all that they’re not. Last week’s defeat to Svay Rieng was very slight and this defeat to Crown hinged on 20 second half minutes, 17 either side of half time and 3 minutes at the end. The game opened at a furious pace and Crown struck after a goalkeeping error. Naga struck back quickly but let their guard down again to fall behind.

The game was won and lost in the five minutes before halftime and the 12 minutes after. Crown extended their lead just before half time and then in the second half, Pisoth in particular, came out like a team possessed and when Pisoth is like this, he is quite simply unplayable! Another goal made it 1-4 and it was game over. A late consolation goal made the score more respectable. However Naga kicked

themselves in the foot with two mad minutes at the end of the game to allow Goselink a brace. A soul crushing 2-6 defeat and they will need to bounce back quickly.

Vishaka begins to find their killer touch…

After three games we were all beginning to think this was going to be another season of disappointment for Vishaka. However 3 wins in the last 3 games, including the last gasp winner against Svay Rieng last week means they’re now 3rd although teams around them all have games in hand.

Yesterday they overcame Tiger, who were really good on the day. Tiger set out defensively and stayed disciplined throughout the game. Vishaka took the lead  just after half time but Tiger hit back almost immediately. The mistake Tiger made in this moment was not going for a second but instead sitting back into defensive shape and allowing Vishaka to attack. A few minutes after making it 1-1 Tiger found themselves 1-2 down and that’s how the game finished.

Round Up……

In the other two games at the bottom of the table, Life FC snatched a 1-1 draw with Kirivong. The big news coming from this game is one of the Kirivong foreign imports was subbed at half time but not apparently not informed by the head coach Venta. This caused a massive argument and it remains to be seen whether this is an argument that can be fixed.

In the final game it was a Balanga hat trick that gave Tiffy Army a 3-1 win over Ministry despite going behind early on. Ministry, Life FC and Kirivong are the only teams in the league now without a win yet this season.
