Cambodia to Inaugurate New Sports Village in April

Cambodia will inaugurate a sports village this April to be used to welcome international sports delegates and athletes attending the 2023 Southeast Asian Games to be hosted this April in Cambodia.
The information was heard during a visit by the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Tea Banh, President of the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) and the Cambodian ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (CAMAPGOC) to the sports village a the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh on February 28.

Tea Banh spoke highly of the progress of the sports village as well as his hopes that the village would be completed by late March March, according to Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of CAMSOC.
Once completed the sports village will host 1,700 rooms, each of which will have up to 5 beds, giving a total capacity of between 6000 and 7000.
The news sports village will cover around eight hectares of land and is located behind the Chinese built Morodok Techo National Stadium.
After the games it is set to turned into a museum celebrating Cambodia’s hosting of the games.
The 32nd Southeast Asian games will mark the first time that Cambodia have hosted the event, as well as being the first major tournament hosted by the Kingdom since the 1967 GANEFO Games.
