Opinion – League Cup: Half Time Report (Part One)

Three weeks down, four weeks to go, as we approach the half way stage we give our verdict on the work done so far. Much like high school we will use the familier A-F grading system.

Crown, Svay Rieng, Vishaka, Boeung Ket, EDC & Police have all played only two games so we will reserve their reports until next week.

CPL

Once again half way through a competition the rules have changed and teams now are allowed to sign 6 new Khmer players because of national team call ups. Why? We knew it was coming so why not just allow more players from the start?

A few technical issues with live streams and the background noise about streaming rights won’t go away.. However we have football. The quality is going up. Fans are attending games. It’s really very exciting to be part of the football scene right now.

VERDICT: B+ MUST STAY FOCUSED

KIRIVONG

Venta has had a great start to management and that’s good news for everyone. There is no doubt he will one day be national team coach so these formative years are important for him. Yannick has been amazing and confirms he is still one of the best in the country.

VERDICT: A+ SUPERB WORK SO FAR

KOH KONG

So much hype about this club but I fear they might be slipping into a similar scenario of AEU where they sign players that have been around the block and are just looking for a another year holding on. They have been poor.

VERDICT: F  SEE PRINCIPLE AFTER CLASS

TIFFY ARMY

Have been steady throughout, always turn up and do the basics right. They will go into the later stages the question is can they find another gear to take it to the next level.

VERDICT: B+ MUST GIVE US SOMETHING MORE TO BE THE BEST

PREY VENG

Very disappointing display so far. Although never beaten with ease they’re not every looking like they will win game either.

VERDICT: D- MUST IMPROVE QUICKLY
