Newly retired Call of Duty (COD) pro Methodz, a former member of OpTic gaming, has announced he will be joining the squad as a content creator less than two weeks after he announced he was stepping away from the game during Major 2.

Methodz joining OpTic, who he had previously been a member of back in 2018 before the Call of Duty League (CDL) was founded, was rumored to be joining the team just hours after his announcement weeks ago.

The rumors were finally confirmed on stream yesterday in a video featuring OpTic COD veteran Scump, who also recently retired and has long been friends with his new content-creating partner.

The fans will definitely be happy, as Methodz and Scumpn have already announced their watch party for tomorrow’s CDL Major Three kick-off matches on both of their channels.

Speaking on the latest episode of the OpTic Podcast, Methodz said he felt the time was right to make the move.

“I wondered about making the switch back to content after a brief break from the game following being dropped by Toronto Ultra in the season before last. This season, I also saw an opportunity in that, our sub at Boston Breach (referring to hot amateur prospect Beanz) brought a different kind of energy that I feel I couldn’t bring anymore, so for me it just made sense.”

During the show, when asked by content-creating teammate and Call Of Duty Veteran Scump when he first heard about the move, Methodz said talks began before the current season even started.

“I knew that Scump was going to retire at the end of this season, so I thought about retiring myself. I knew it wouldn’t be long after him. Then you [scump] jumped the gun and retied midseason.”

“That wasn’t why I retired, but the practice and what goes into it was tough. I would start every day at 12, wouldn’t finish till 9, no time to practice and it wore me down.”

“I retired in the best way possible, at the Boston event in front of a hometown crowd with my friends and family in the audience. It felt right,” he added.

This marks a return to OpTic for Methodz, who previously played for the team for a few months back in 2018 during the Call of Duty: World War II season. Methodz seemingly played for just about every team throughout his 10-year career.

Methodz and OpTic fans will be hoping his tenure as a content creator will go better than how OpTic fared in that year of CoD. At WWII’s Call of Duty Championship event, OpTic struggled mightily to a top-24 finish.

The addition of Methodz only strengthens OpTic’s massive content creation roster, which already includes several former pros, Warzone streamers, and even chess stars Alexandra and Andrea Botez.
