SAVE AEU!!

Rumors are beginning to become fact and it looks like AEU will be unable to compete in League 2 this season and will possibly never be seen again. This would be a disaster for both the fans and a missed opportunity for anyone interested in football business

Culture & Identity…..

Over the years as the club has grown it has developed a clear identity as a club finding unknown players and turning them into gems for the bigger clubs in the country.  In recent years we’ve seen players move onto Boeung Ket & Vishaka. Unknown whether money ever changed hands in these deals, it’s a missed opportunity for the club if it didn’t. You only have to look at Brighton in England to see what can be done with this type of business model. African players are preferred and young Khmers with energy and raw, unpolished ability make up a really hard team to beat.

The Stadium…….

They own a stadium that is not only well built and maintained but also hidden away across from the city center. Close enough to the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh but just enough away to not be sucked in. On top of it all, the pitch itself is decent and well looked after. Expansive football can be played on the field due its size and the stadium can hold up to 3,000 screaming fans.

A big Loss………

Culture, identity, history, a business model with proven success and a stadium. That’s the foundations of a great football club and to see them going out of business is a massive blow for the Federation and a missed opportunity for any business man.
